One of the most famous noble families of Pskov is a name - Valuev. Rhode Valuev has Lithuanian origin. One of Valuev - Ivan Semenovich in the 17th century was the owner of land in Velikie county, and in the mid-18th century, the grandson of Ivan S. (Stepan Myronovych) bought land in Ostrov and Pskov districts, thus expanding their holdings. After retiring with the rank of Major-General Stepan Myronovych Valuev, he settled in the village Zherebtsovo and began vigorously to establish their farms. Built in 1764, the brick house, the palace, numbering two floors preserved to this day. With its elegant architectural treatment has caused a large number of rumors. Argued that the palace built by Rastrelli himself, which, incidentally, has not been documented.
House Valuev is considered the best in the immediate vicinity of islands and repeatedly served as a stopping place for the night dignitaries, made a trip to Russia and Europe. In 1780 the estate Valuev few days staying Catherine II, later in 1840 stayed here Nicholas I. There is an opinion that has been here AS Pushkin. According to rumors, no room in the house did not have a recurrence in their decoration. Unfortunately, few of the former luxury that remains: are broken pompous porticoes, missing ceremonial staircases, stucco and sculptural details were only on one end-face facade.
The owners did not build a temple in his estate, and in 1767 organized and dedicated the chapel of the Epiphany in the house. The church occupies only one room of small size, the room height reaches seven meters, which made it possible to establish a choir singing. Six canvases Drulera, a native of France, decorated iconostasis. Valuev, often plays host to distinguished guests and royal personages, not to save money on interior decoration of the palace: here you can see the Chinese mosaic, mirrors, tiled stoves, painting with flying ribbons and hovering cupids, gilded stucco. All the works - and art and carvings were made by masters, especially discharged from St. Petersburg.
Entourage also correspond to the status of owners: The park is a real work of landscape art, the mandatory elements of planning, as well as decorative attributes. His graceful component was the small size of the pond, the pond bottom was lined with tiles, so that its water hit the crystal clarity. Interesting and unusual detail park environment - "real" sundial, were formed out of twelve firs planted around. The role of "clockwise" performs a tree, located in the center.
In 1865 the manor passed by inheritance to the collegiate secretary Alexei Valuev, who made their homes in the face of corrections. The building has undergone restructuring: the main facade, which faces the Great River, was built portico with a balcony and stairs leading down to the river. Staircase decorated with stone sculptures of sphinxes.
However, the absolute heyday of the estate reached when Alexander A. and Maria Ivanovna - his wife. Comfortably and safely proceeded in a life estate to the early fifties of the nineteenth century. In 1856, the arrest was all the property Valuev for "wasteful and chaotic management of the estate" - it was the beginning of collapse. Rosli debt funds are not enough for the bare necessities, the manor was rapidly declining.
At the end of the nineteenth century manor bought SM Nekludov, at the time the largest landowner. After the revolution from 1917 to 1968 it housed an orphanage, in our time in the estate is vocational school.
