Muang Tum, or Prasat Hin Muang Tum is an ancient Khmer temple in the province of Buriram. Its name means "stone castle lowest land" because it is built on the plain.

Muang Tum is created in the style of Khleang and Bamhuon that carries the date of its construction by the end of X - beginning of XI century. Mixing styles and cultures in it so strongly that more precise dating is impossible. Some elements in the church was added in the heyday of Buddhism in Thailand. Practice changes Hindu temples in the Buddhist country used quite extensively.

Dedicated Muang Tum main Hindu gods Vishnu and Shiva. Like most Khmer temples, it is oriented to the east. The temple consists of a central room (the sanctuary) and two libraries are connected to him by internal corridors. It is made of large stone blocks and surrounded by a chain of ponds with statues of the Great Nagas, sticking out of the water.

Just 200 meters from the church is the largest artificial lake ever found in Thailand: Ta Lau Muang Tum. The banks of the pond lined with stone, he at length is 1090 meters, a width of 510 meters and a depth of 3 meters. Presumably, the pond served as a watershed with the rainy season.

Art and architecture Muang Tum is the subject of a comprehensive admiration. Despite the fact that a large part of it is reduced, it is still impressive tourist attractions and seasoned historians.
