The museum complex "The Universe of Water" is one of the new museums in Russia. Located in a water tower and a former underground reservoir Main Waterworks Shpalernaya Street, 56, in front of the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg. The tower was built in brick style in the period from 1859 to 1862 years, architects EG Shuberskim and IA Merz. The exhibition "The Underground World of St. Petersburg" is a multimedia complex, located in the left wing of the Water Tower. Visitors have the opportunity to travel to the "dungeon". Along with the water they pass all its road, first turn on the waterworks, and then - under the ground where the pipe, then - in the basement of an apartment house, in a sewer, which is used water, and then - on the sewage treatment plants, and finally, at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland on board the submarine. These steps show visitors the water cycle in the city and the problem of water intake and sewage treatment.

Separately, there is a story about water in Russia. The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to water and wastewater of St Petersburg since its inception and until 1858.
In the IV and V floors contains materials on water supply and sanitation Petersburg in 1858-1917, respectively. It begins in 1858 with the story of the St. Petersburg "Vodokanal". The exposition is dedicated to the design and construction of water and sewer networks, the development of water treatment facilities, water quality control. Whole sections tell about the use of water in the home, on the job training, research, inventions in the field of water supply and sanitation. At the V floor of the restored interior of the cabinet of the control of the St. Petersburg Water Works. VI and VII floors of the exhibition tells about the water and sewage of St. Petersburg from 1917 to the present time.
