Rhode Rosenbergs was a very wealthy and influential: it owns large tracts of land were in the south of the Czech Republic, which were built about a dozen luxury residences. One of these castles is located right on the border with Austria - in the town of Nové Hrady. This Gothic palace, originally owned by Vitkovich appeared in unapproachable Stropnitse riverside location in the XIII century. Castle Nové Hrady Novohradské panstva was the center, composed of cities and towns, large hunting areas, several ponds, rich in fish, windmills, fields, farm for growing hops.
In 1359 and the castle itself, and all the land in his district bought Rosenberg, who owned it until 1611, when he died last representative of the famous family.
Castle burned several times - in 1425 and 1467 respectively. The cause of fire was not negligent, and attack the enemy. Gradually, however, the palace was restored, with special attention paid to its reconstruction was his defensive system. In the castle there are three towers and entrance tower received additional protection.
But the misfortune that dogged the castle Nové Hrady, not over: once in the powder magazine was struck by lightning and explosion destroyed half of the building, and then in these places there was an earthquake. The castle was restored again.
After the Rosenbergs ruled here Shvambergi who were guilty before the king, and were deprived of all property. The local castle bestowed Byukoyu Karl, whose family owned it until 1945. Now the castle is open an exhibition dedicated to his last owners.
