Phra Nakhon Khiri - Historical Park in Phetchaburi province, located on the hill. Its name means "sacred city on the hill". Among the locals is more popular name of Khao Wang, which means "city on a hill."

It was built in 1860 by order of King Mongkut, or Rama IV as a place of rest from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Location Phra Nakhon Khiri hill helped King astronomy hobby.

Buildings in the Phra Nakhon Khiri divided into three groups and are located on the three peaks of the 92-meter hill. On the west you will see the peak of the royal palace and offices. The palace is in the mixed Chinese-European style, it is now a private property of Rama IV.

From the palace is a stone-paved road in the central part of the historic park. There is a large snow-white chedi (stupa) Phra Chom Phet Thah. According to ancient records, in its foundation laid relics of the Buddha Gautama.

On the west is the peak of the royal temple of Wat Phra Kaew, which is a replica of the eponymous temple in Bangkok, which houses the famous Emerald Buddha.

Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park has been recognized by 27 August 1979. In two rooms, adjacent to the palace since located the National Museum.

To get to Phra Nakhon Khiri possible the stairs leading through the forest, but be careful: there are often found wild monkeys. An alternative is the funicular, which is especially popular with tourist groups and students.
