The small village of Peristerona is located a few dozen kilometers from Paphos in the same district in the western part of Cyprus, and only nine kilometers south of the town of Polis. The village has its own special atmosphere, which is what sets it from a number of such settlements of the island. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery - the land around Peristerona little cultivated, they are overgrown with wild flowers, lush shrubs, fruit and olive trees.

One of the most popular and visited places of the village is considered to be the Byzantine Museum of Arsinoe, which is located at the residence of Bishop Arsinoyskogo. The museum is open to visitors every day except Sundays, and is famous for its unique collection of icons painted in the period from the XIII to the XIX century, which has more than 60 copies. In addition, there can be seen a variety of items used in the commission of church ceremonies - Orthodox priests vestments, church furnishings, made of wood and precious metals, as well as ancient books and manuscripts on religious themes. All these exhibits were made not only in the city and the islands - many of which were imported from other countries. In addition, the museum can also see unique jewelry made of precious metals.

Yet the real gem of the museum collection is considered to be an icon, which depicts St. George the Victorious. This masterpiece was painted in the XIII century and was brought to the museum from the village of Panagia.
