During his long life of the palace was rebuilt many times, but in 1926 the architect Gaspare Rastrelli returned the building to its original appearance.

The brick facade of the building is decorated with machicolations dovetail. Carlo Goldoni proposed the use of the palace as a theatrical scaffolding and two centuries there were performances of plays by the famous playwright.

Next to the Palazzo del Arengo is the Palazzo del Podesta, built in the 1330s. Arches and five small windows adorn the facade of the palace. A bifurcated teeth-mashikuli not only decorate the building, but are needed in the defense, turning the elegant palazzo into an impregnable fortress.
