Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul was built in the village (who later became the city) Dobrinishte in 1835. It was the second, after erected in 1684 the church of the Assumption, the church in the city.

At the beginning of the Balkan War in 1913, the Greeks and the Turks set fire to Dobrinishte .  One of the three places, set on fire the invaders, became the Tower .  Soon after the fire on the east side slumped to the building of the Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul .  Seeing this, a Greek officer ordered the soldiers to collect the river water and put out the Temple .  So he was saved .  After the fire, turned the locality in the ashes, many residents had left him Dobrinishte .  However, there remains a lot of the elderly and people in poor health, which ultimately saved the church icons .  Among them are really valuable, "Resurrection", "Holy Mother of God" and others, brought to the Iberian monastery from Armenia .  In addition, survivors are particularly valuable Byzantine cross with exquisite carvings 1194 .  On the floor of the temple is a marble slab with the double-headed eagle - the emblem of the Byzantine .  These flagstones are characteristic of the temples in the period from 1200 and 1300 years .  The one that is in the church of Saints Peter and Paul, was taken to the nearby church of St. Mary, which was destroyed .

In 1926 the building was renovated and reconstructed, it was attached to the tower. The interior of the church is striking: the iconostasis with three gates, which are exposed ancient icons; royal doors with openwork carved and partially painted in different colors and gilded elements (produced their masters from Debar). Of interest are the king and ten icons painted in 1835 and in the second half of the 19th century. Some of the smaller icons painted by representatives of the Art School of Bansko. Since 1867 located in the nave painted pulpit and bishop's throne, and over the altar - a carved wooden canopy.
