City of Military Glory - is one of the honorary titles of the Russian Federation, which can be assigned to a specific city of the "steadfastness, heroism, courage defenders of the city in a just war for independence and freedom of the Fatherland."

July 22, 2010 organized a welcoming opening of the stele called "Pskov - City of Military Glory", which was held in the town square of Victory .  This important ceremony was attended by the leaders of the city and region, military, veterans, children and priests .  In an important discovery for all the invited veterans it was established a special podium, where they accompanied the students as well as students of the club "Patriot" .  To honor and respect for veterans, most of them do not need help .  At that time reigned in Pskov extraordinary heat, turned the ceremony into a real test .  But despite the difficulties, the ceremony came to see quite a number of people .  Start the ceremony took place with theatrical appeal to all present, as well as the glorification of the great city of Pskov important and historically significant personages, among which are the Prince Alexander Nevsky, Peter the Great, Princess Olga, Prince Dovmont . 
Directly in front of the podium held a short demonstration on the length of the battle among the soldiers reenactors. After some time, residents of the city of Pskov was reminded of the events of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the incredible feat of six companies. Shortly thereafter, the paratroopers were operating with demonstration performances.

To respect and honor the right of the first to open the stele, by cutting with the ribbon was given to Andrew Turchak - governor of the Pskov region, Yevgeny Lukyanov - authorized the Deputy Representative of the President to SFZO, Ivan Tsetsersky - head of the city of Pskov, Sergei Pavlov - the Great Patriotic War, Igor Vinogradskaya - commander of the 76th Division, and the father Eusebius - Metropolitan Velikoluksky and Pskov. After the opening ceremony, each of the invited guests congratulated the residents of the city with such a significant day.

The very first ceremony of awarding diplomas on awarding the distinguished title of "City of Military Glory" took place on 7 May, 2007. While its ratification received the heads of administrations of Orel, Kursk and Belgorod. Autumn of that year, the current president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin gave the famous five letters to the mayors of the cities of the conferring of the honorary title. In the autumn of 2009 in the town of Dmitrov was the grand opening of the first Russian commemorative arrows under the same name "City of Military Glory." From March 2010 to November 2011, Russian President Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev signed decrees and important conferring the title of Russian cities participating in the defense of our homeland, as well as its preservation for the long history of development and formation of the Russian state.

With regard to the architectural and sculptural solutions memorial stele "City of Military Glory", it was formally approved by the Committee on organizational matters "Victory" in an open nationwide competition.

Commemorative stela - a Doric column, which is crowned with the coat of arms of the Russian Federation, and is mounted on a pedestal in the center of the town square. Cartouche with the decree of the President is located on the front of the stele, and the reverse side has the image of the emblem of the city. In all corners of the area exposed sculpted bas-reliefs depicting the events for which the city received the title of "City of Military Glory."

Since 2011, the Bank of Russia began to produce a series of coins of the same name, which are made of galvanized steel with brass coating.
