Pilsen Republic Square was once called market and is considered the heart of the medieval city. The houses located on its perimeter, living rich and noble people, who did everything to emphasize their wealth by the rich decoration of their own homes. We used as decoration sculptures, stucco and various ornaments, which even occasionally been a source of bizarre, allegorical names of the houses on which they were placed. So, the house is situated near the residence of the local bishop, referred to as the home of "The red heart" because on the railing of his balcony you can see a small metal heart painted in red color.
This house was built in 1894 in Art Nouveau style and renovated in 1996 by architect Rudolf Shtehom. On the facade of the building talented artist Mikoláš Aleš fresco in medieval style, which was the reason that the house is now under the protection of the Czech Republic.
The painting is an image of two knights, dressed in battle armor and holding flags. It is a reminder of the knight's tournaments, which take place in the Market Square of Pilsen in 1555. These revels collected hundreds of spectators: peasants, artisans, merchants and noblemen, who gathered here from all around.
In our time in the house "The Red Heart" is the Czech Savings Bank. Therefore, each tourist can visit it to at least a glimpse of the famous interiors of buildings.
