Kasim Pasha Mosque is one of the symbols of the city of Pecs. It is located in the city center at the highest point of the central square - the Széchenyi Square. Today it functions as the Roman Catholic Church. The building, square in cross-section, the width of a hundred steps, was built by Pasha Qasim Triumphant in the period between 1543 and 1546 years. In the 1660s Evliya Çelebi, the famous Turkish traveler, wrote about the greatness of this building.
The minaret of the mosque was demolished in 1766 by the Jesuits. A number of changes in the architecture of the building were made during the 18-20's ages. As a result, the original architecture of the square there was only an octagonal facade covered with a dome. The interior of the church is interesting frescoes and quotations from the Koran.
