Vergara Palace, an area of ​​3,000 square meters was built in 1910 by architect Ettore Petri Santini Vergara family mansion on the site of destroyed terrible earthquake August 16, 1906. This palace is the family home of Jose Francisco Vergara, who founded the Viña del Mar. The prototype of the palace served as the Italian villa in Venetian Gothic style.

In this palace he lived the daughter of Jose Francisco Vergara Etchevers - Errazuriz Blanca Vergara Alvarez. Doña Blanca was married to Guillermo Errazurizom and had five children: Hugh, William White, Manuel and Amalia. Doña Blanca Vergara Alvarez Errazuriz specially invited to his house the most famous people of the time, and take them on the first floor in the halls of the palace, which now houses a museum. Most of the furniture of different styles was purchased in Europe.

Subsequently, a lot of misfortunes befell the family Vergara. Doña Blanca spent the last years of his life in one of the parts of the palace Vergara, alone. She gave 60 works of outstanding European artists in the collection of the museum, which opened in the palace.

The last person who lived in the palace Vergara was Amelia Errazuriz Vergara, who died shortly after the park and the palace became the property of the municipality Vergara and Vergara Palace became the Museum of Fine Arts (1941).

At the palace are beautiful lawns and gardens with exotic plants brought from Asia, Australia and California. The first floor of the palace occupies the Museum of Fine Arts, and on the upper floors are now held seminars, guest appearances Philharmonic works School of Fine Arts.

At the entrance to the park you can see the sculptures, including a bust of Gabriela Mistral - known Chilean poet, diplomat and teacher, one of the leading figures in Chilean literature and the first woman in Latin America to be awarded the Nobel Prize. The bust was donated to the museum by the sculptor Nina Anzhuita.
