Well, what the central square of any Czech town without necessarily Town Hall? And is there no high Town Hall bell tower, which usually equips the observation deck? There are buildings in Opava!

On the Upper town square stands the Watchtower, she's City, she's Clock Tower, which is called Glasko. It is connected to the Town Hall and it looks like a natural extension of, not as an independent object, but in all the guidebooks focuses precisely tower.

The tower came here, probably, along with the city. At first it was a high wooden structure designed for the few hours that could clock to monitor the surrounding area and in time to warn residents about the attack of the enemy. Her first floors were used for storing products for sale of bread, and as a city court. The wooden building was to continue, if not lightning, which hit directly in the tower and was the cause of the fire. Watchtower burnt and the city urgently needed her something to replace it. In the years 1614-1618 was built a new tower - is made of durable stone that can withstand any weather. Above it worked architect K. Protsguber. City tower height is 72 meters.

In 1763-1805 years, its ground floor was given over to the stage for the City Theatre. In the XIX century clock tower several floors were occupied by the city archives. Large-scale renovation of the tower was carried out in 1902-1903. In our time, the offices in the tower of the "fathers" of the city and a small cozy cafe.
