Wooden Church "Garmo" was erected in 1150 on the site of the old church, which was built in the days of the Vikings. Initially, the church was in the town of Lom, from where later was moved to Lillehammer. During the construction of the churches of this type in the Middle Ages used a unique technology, in which the wooden structures installed vertically.
Over time, "Garmo" lost its church status, and in 1822 was bought by Anders Sandvig, who moved it to a new location. Re-construction of the church took place only in 1920-1921 years. Today, the temple "Garmo" is one of the most popular and most visited of wooden churches in the whole of Norway.
Every Wednesday at 19.00 Vespers is held here, which may be attended by all interested persons.
