Holy Trinity Cathedral over the years has always been the most magnificent and monumental architectural monument in Liepaja. Construction of the temple began in 1742. I drove the first pile on May 29 and July 19 laid the foundation stone. The architect was Ya.K.Dorn, assistant - M.Frelih. Sanctify the church on Dec. 5, 1758. Only in 1866, the building was fully completed.

For many years, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity existed action comes. Activities of the parish did not stop in spite of the numerous wars, changing times and political regimes.

Holy Trinity Cathedral - a unique structure. It has retained its original form, without undergoing any surgery, no changes in the interiors. Just before World War II during the existence of the German congregation here was repaired. But the most valuable is the fact that the famous organ of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is preserved the way it was created. And it has built an outstanding builder of H.A.Kontsiuss. Famous for this body that it until 1912 was the largest in the world. It is characterized by fully mechanical games traktura (electronic and pneumatic control is not used). It consists of 4 organ manuals, 131 registers and over 7,000 pipes. It challenges the status of the largest organ of the world body of the opera house in Sydney, containing 5 manuals, 125 registers and about 10,000 tubes.

The church with an amazing body is proud of organists. It - Rudolf Perle, who served in the church most of my life and brought together luxury music library. It is for each Sunday service came up with a new cantata. Janis Sermukslis - another outstanding organist. He won the competition, and a quarter of a century has played on this organ. Great attention should be paid and the first female organist Maria Meyrin and its student Tobias Yaugietis. Since 1939, when the Germans left Latvia, he played the famous organ. During the war, Tobias Yaugietis with his father were in the cathedral around the clock. They carried buckets of water to put out the slightest spark, get inside through the broken windows. They saved the church from destruction.

German parish existed until 1939. Then came the arrival of Latvian. The cathedral became the property of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church. Initially, the service conducted a priest Ernst Bunce, who during the war was doing it in the Latvian and German. After World War II, worked here and evangelists Arnold Karlis Ulpe Conrads, the priest Karlis Daugulis. Long amount of time supervised the arrival of the priest Theodore Kalks. Also, the priests performed worship Voldemars Gutmanis, Ilmar Krieviņš, Sprogis Sigurd, Sigurd Augstkalns.

Currently, the parish church of the Holy Trinity in a very close-knit. The life of the parish involved a large number of young people. Of the 300 parishioners about half regularly attend worship. On the organ played Waldemar Christian Baris and the League of Augusta. The church was established liturgical Youth Choir under the musical school pupils Maya porin. Organized various concerts. Cathedral collaborates with the Department of Culture and the City Council. In the future, the parishioners are planning to make a concert at a higher level.

Now the parish has a special status - the cathedral parish. At the service, you can come every day at 18 o'clock. A festive service - especially solemn. Their bishop holds Liepaja Pavilosta Bruvers.

The council held a ceremony ordained priests, consecrated oil, which then will be used in worship. All the preparatory work is done by the parishioners.

The question is how do you keep the church for future generations. And the output was found. With the help of the fund renovation of the church and donations from the charity portal ziedot.lv began repairs. In the basement and under the floor of the church was destroyed by a fungus. 1 repaired fur body. Produced preservation of the tower from further damage. In 2008, the interior of the Cathedral of 13 000 m³ were treated with methyl bromide to kill the bug-grinder. Experts from Germany have given the guarantee that at least 30 years old bugs do not appear. I want to believe that this great monument of architecture transformed and preserved for future generations.
