Spread on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, a resort town of Bardolino is part of the province of Verona and is located 130 km west of Venice and 25 km northwest of Verona. The economy of this small town is based mainly on tourism and the production of wine.

The territory of modern Bardolino has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by archaeological findings. There were traces of Roman settlements, although the current town was founded only in the early Middle Ages, when, in the 10th century Berengar Italica built a fortress. In the 12th century, Bardolino was known as an independent commune, and later came under the rule Scaligeri family which expanded and strengthened local fortification. After the fall of the Scaligeri, the town became part of the Venetian Republic, which is located here a naval base, and still later was part of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. We visited the "wheel" of Bardolino and the Austrians. Only in 1866 the city became part of a united Italy.

Today Bardolino - a popular tourist resort. Its ancient center, surrounded by the ruins of the medieval city walls, is of particular interest. The Romanesque church of the 11th-century San Severo you can see murals depicting scenes from the Apocalypse. Worth seeing the church of San Vito and San Zeno middle of the 9th century, a 12-century-old church of San Nicolò and the ancient monastery of San Colombano. Throughout the Bardolino scattered luxury villas, most of which was built in the 19th century - Bottadzhizio Villa, Villa Guerreri, Marzahn Villa, Villa and Villa Raimondi Giuliani-Dzhanfilippi. Not far from the city's harbor are Palazzo Gelmetti with the tower and the Loggia Rambaldi.
