Arsenal building was built right here in mind a number of reasons: it is under the protection of a powerful ancient bastion of the Citadel with a tower of Campana and shipyard on the waterfront of Kotor, right in front of the bastion. All this makes the building a success in military terms.

First, on the Place d'Armes defenders were preparing to repel the enemy attack the city. In 1539 there was an invasion of famous pirates Algerian pirate Barbarossa Haydreddina. Break through the defense of the city and the attackers failed, contributing to their retreat after three days of siege.

Today the building is the city of Kotor Arsenal war galley called "Holy Trifon."

Reconstruction of the building in the early sixties of the XX century led to a significant change in the appearance of the building: was removed steep and high roof, instead of one floor to mighty arches, towering above the basement, there was a few floors.
