According to some historical documents, the Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, was built between the 11th and 12th centuries on the ruins of the earlier Carolingian cathedral. The latter, in turn, was erected on the site of the ancient pagan temple dedicated to Juno - so according to local legend.
