Gardens Herrenhoyzer were broken when the Countess Sophie von der Pfalz, the daughter of Elizabeth Stuart and mother of King George I. The gardens consist of a large garden, Berggarten, gardens and George Welf. A large garden belongs to one of the most important baroque gardens in Europe and has a plan modeled on the Dutch parks XVII-XVIII century. Berggarten evolved from the garden for growing vegetables Botanical, with fountains, sculptures and grottos. Broken English-style gardens of George and Welf reputation for being a favorite place for walking and recreation in the city.

From destruction during the Second World War the palace Herrenhoyzer it survived only one wing - art gallery. Its central hall frescoed Baroque work of Tommaso Giusti. During the summer festival "Music and drama in Herrenhoyzer" music concerts are held here.
