Photo: Cathedral Sv.Salvatora
Church of St. Salvator was built as a parish, and only in 1834 was the cathedral of Bruges. The temple was rebuilt many times, remodeled and updated. The oldest part of the cathedral dates from the 12th century. The interior of the church of particular interest are the choir benches, on which are carved the arms of the Knights of the Order of the Golden Fleece. In this Order comprised many European rulers, as it was formally established by Philip the Good in 1430 in Bruges.
