Jaunmoku Palace is located in the Tukums district of Latvia, 75 km from Riga and approximately 30 km from the town of Tukums. The palace was built in 1901, the project was architect William Bockslaff. The original castle was built as a hunting Yaunmokas for mayor George Armitsteda whom the palace belonged until 1904.
Over the next few years Yaumokskim castle owned by different families. Since 1920, the castle became the property of the state. After the division of the estate Yaunmokas, outbuildings and land leased. The castle itself is a children's rest home "Tsirulyshi."
During the period of the Second World War the castle was used for the needs of both Russian and German troops. So, at the beginning of the war in Jaunmoku castle was sergeant school, later it was already a German radio station. But towards the end of the war there was located a German military hospital.
In the postwar period there were also apartments and offices, and shops. During this period, renovation of the palace no one did. With lock Yaunmokas linked to a legend based on a true story dating from the early 20th century. The legend tells of a young girl Dorite, who worked as a nanny in the castle during the Second World War. At that time, the palace occupied by the Germans. Dorite fell in love with an officer who soon left, leaving her pregnant. The girl did not survive the separation, and managed to overcome the shame, and she drowned herself in the pond of the castle.
