Beguinage - Beguines this settlement alone in the city in Flanders and the Netherlands, is an architectural ensemble consisting of apartment buildings with cells and chapel around a courtyard, garden, or used under planted with flowers. Beguines were almost monastic way of life, but did not give a vow of chastity and sacrifice their property for the benefit of the community. They were engaged in needlework, raising orphans, cared for the sick and elderly.

Currently, the Beguinage live the elderly, students and artists. However, many converted into a museum complex, but some managed to keep the monastic life.

Beguinage In Bruges is one of the city's main attractions. It is located on the shores of Lake Minneuoter.
