Three kilometers from the center of Brno is Tugendhat villa, which is under UNESCO protection. This unusual structure, as if pressed to the ground, is one of the most successful examples of functionalism in architecture. Above the villa two years worked famous architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. In 1928, he received an order from Fritz Tugendhat to build residential villas. Customer gave the green light, and the architect used to build this house all my imagination.
Firstly, there is no carrier in the building walls. The entire load of the floors goes to the iron frame. The walls in the tradition of functionalist painted white. On the design of interiors and furniture making it works the same architect. He managed to design two armchairs, which are called Tugendhat and Brno. They are still massively available to ordinary consumers enjoy enormous demand.
The house inside looks quite ascetic. Here you find pictures or wall panels. The whole décor is built on the use of natural, natural materials that create a wonderful atmosphere of comfort. One of the walls in a house made of onyx, which is capable of transmitting light that looks just awesome.
The villa occupies a small hill, overlooking the magnificent view of the surroundings.
The villa is open to the public. Many tourists who come here want to see not only the evidence of the genius of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, but also to visit the interior, where there has been a historic event - had read the declaration of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
