Kohlmarkt (Zelni TRH) is referred to as the central area of Brno, which is not to be missed during a walk. It started to be built at the beginning of the XIII century. We can say that it was around this area and the town began to take shape. Previously, the main area of Brno was called the Upper Market and really served as a trading platform where you can purchase a variety of products, dishes, shoes, clothes, poultry and cattle. The market has been divided into sectors, each of which sold a certain product. Traders did not argue with each other for the best place, and buyers know exactly where you could buy the necessary thing.
Nowadays, the square also have traders, however, they are few. Basically, there are selling flowers and fruit. However, it is a luxury for the European city: still Zelni trg has long become one of the main squares of Brno.
There is always a lot of tourists. They are photographed against the backdrop of an old fountain, which is a sculptural composition "Parnassus". Fountain came here in 1690 and is considered one of the most original in the Czech Republic. Just looking at it, learning the ancient heroes and mythological creatures, it can be several tens of minutes. The architect JB Fischer, who worked on the fountain, very originally solved the problem of water ingress: he spent water to the local river Svratka.
On Zelni bargaining goes facade famous Dietrichstein Palace, which now houses an exhibition of the Moravian Museum. Among other architectural monuments of the area it is worth noting three theaters: "Reduta", "Goose on a string" and "Theatre at the table." Before Theatre "Goose on a string," you can see the plague column erected in 1729.
