Baranovichi Regional Museum was opened in October 1929 on the initiative of Tours. The work of the museum was repeatedly awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, in 2004 the museum the best in the Brest region.
Unfortunately, we can not now get acquainted with the pre-war museum exhibits, as all of them were looted during the Nazi occupation. During the postwar years, much has been done, thanks to which is now the museum presents an interesting collection of archeology, ethnography and history of the region, its material and spiritual culture.
In the museum more than 2,000 exhibits presented in seven halls. The first two rooms introduce to the natural wealth of Baranavichy Territory: the flora and fauna of rivers, lakes, wetlands, forests and fields, as well as environmental problems and the measures taken to deal with them.
The next rooms show us the archaeological finds in historical sequence: the primitive communal system, the time when Baranovichi were part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Rzeczpospolita and the Russian Empire. Next exhibition introduces us to Baranovichi during the Soviet regime during World War II and the subsequent struggle with the devastation. Last, the seventh room introduces us to the history of the city in the post as part of the Republic of Belarus.
In the exhibition halls of the museum are constantly interesting exhibitions of fine art, graphics, sculpture, folk crafts.
