Ahi Elvan Mosque was built in the immediate vicinity of Ankara Fortress (Citadel). This austere building stands in the center of the city for many centuries.

Little Mosque Ahi Elvan, was built in 1382. He built it in the spirit of the time and looks like most Seljuk mosques. She has another name - "Forest mosque." In 1413 the restoration of the mosque was carried out on the orders of Mehmet Celebi, and she found the form that we see today.

Outside Ahi Elvan has a very simple form: rough walls are built of unbaked mud bricks. Roof tiles covered in the Turkish style. The walls have windows, arranged in two rows of six each, and above the altar in two rows of four. Entrance gate of the mosque are lined with stones and all kinds of ornaments. The mosque has a balcony and a minaret, located in the northwest corner of it.

Ahi Elvan has wooden ceilings and is the most beautiful example of the woodwork. The ceiling is supported by twelve columns, also made of wood used in the construction of the Byzantine and Roman buildings. The ceiling is decorated with motifs of pentagons - is an elegant example of the style of Seljuk.
