The largest lake in Ahmedabad Kankariya was created in 1451 during the reign of Sultan Kutubuddina. It is located in the south-eastern part of the city, in the most densely populated area of Maninagar, and has a rounded shape, and the length of its perimeter is about 2.3 kilometers. At the time, bathed in its waters, many kings and rulers of the principality. When its construction was considered the possibility of contamination, so along with the lake was created and a special cleaning system, which, unfortunately, today is no longer valid.

On one of its shores is the summer palace, which is said to have liked to rest himself Mughal emperor Jahangir and his wife, as well as a zoo and an amusement park for children. And right in the middle of the lake is famous garden Nagina Wadi (meaning "beautiful garden").

The lake is a favorite spot for picnics residents and visitors alike, and on its shores is very crowded at any time of the day. But the most beautiful lakes Kankariya at night, when its banks and the water covers a huge number of lights of different colors, creating intricate patterns on its surface. A lot of cafes and restaurants on the seafront will make vacation on the Kankarii even more enjoyable.

If desired, you can rent a boat and ride on the waters of the lake, or else make a small "trip" around him on a walking train "Atal Express', which was specially made in London. He began his ride to work in 2008, after it was decided to reconstruct the place, and was named after the former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
