Hadrian's Assumption Monastery is located in the Yaroslavl region, namely Andrianova Sloboda Poshehonsky area.

The base of the monastery was in 1543. Judging by the biography of the Rev. Adrian Poshehonsky which he had written in the 70s of the 16th century and is considered one of the most important authentic sources about the monastery, at the end of 1539 the reverend Leonid and Adrian Poshehonsky gone into local forests in order to establish a new desert in honor of Our Lady. The monastery was established fairly strict regulations, concerning the lives and work - this was done on the model of a genuine statute exists at Komel'sk monastery. In the spring of 1543 took place on the inception of a small church with a refectory room. From this point and ending with the end of the 17th century, all existing buildings at the monastery, including the refectory room, churches, bell tower, monastic cells and the fence were made of wood.

Assumption Church had two chapel, consecrated in honor of St. Alexis - God, man, and the Rev. Michael Malein. It is believed that the construction of the chapels were in the period between 1613 and 1645 years, which coincided with the reign of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich. The monastery was the place to be and the Gate Church, which was consecrated in the name of the martyrs Adrian and Natalia with a chapel in honor of St. Michael Malein. At the end of 1659 at the Assumption Cathedral including two chapels - Adrian Monk Poshehonsky and St. Nicholas. Soon the monastery there was a big fire, because that building burned down completely.

In the early years of the 18th century according to the blessing of Metropolitan of Rostov Joasaph Lazarevic, and soon Metropolitan Dimitry of Rostov Tuptalo in an area of ​​the burned churches were built new temples. In 1718, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the Cathedral of the Assumption, which was built of stone. One of the most revered and respected shrines became the icon of the Assumption of the Virgin, which is located near the shrine of St. Adrian, made in St. Petersburg at the end of 1789. Nearby you can see a cross with relics of some saints.

In 1928 the monastery was closed, and all his brethren deported. All the rooms of the temple were occupied farms. In 2000, the buildings of the temple remained only the ruins of the Assumption Church, belfry, rectory and convent refectory building and stables. Currently, the monastery is valid.
