A huge architectural complex - the residence of the bishop - is at the center of the old town. It was built in 1720-1744 years by order of the two cardinals - brothers Johann Philipp Franz and Friedrich Carl von Schönborn. Construction led the two architects von Hildenbrandt and Welsh background.
But the famous residence of its unique grand staircase designed by the architect Balthasar Neumann. Code of this baroque staircase is decorated with the world's largest mural work of Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
