The village Erzovka Volgograd region stands a white stone five-domed church, consecrated in 1896 in honor of St. Michael the Archangel.
White stone church building stands on the site of the original wooden church, brought from Tsaritsyn in 1835. Old temple stood for over half a century, eventually decayed. Pichuzhinskoe merchant company in 1890, with the blessing of the holy righteous John of Kronstadt, decided to build a new church. Six years later, a beautiful five-domed church opens its doors to worshipers.
Before the revolution, the building of the temple acted parochial school. With the advent of the Soviet regime the school was closed, the priest arrested, and the building is adapted for a granary. During the Great Patriotic War it was destroyed the church tower. In the history of the church there were three attempts to blow up the temple: in 1920 (Civil War), during the Great Patriotic War, and the last attempt was prevented by local residents in 1975.
In 1988 the dilapidated building of the temple passed Volgograd diocese. Analyzing the half-meter piles of garbage, the congregation found the shell in the wall of the building located there since the war. In the absence of sponsors and contractors, long temple was reconstructed with donations of parishioners. Since 1991, Michael the Archangel Church services are conducted regularly, and in 1999 was restored wall paintings and bell tower. Today majestic temple is an architectural monument of the nineteenth century, a historical landmark Erzovka and the Volgograd region.
