Don Gustavo Adolfo Wulff Movla, a prominent businessman and philanthropist of Valparaiso, in 1881, decided to start the construction of a residence on the beach in Vina del Mar. To do this, Woolf had to get special permission for the construction of the building. His request met in 1904, giving permission to build in a certain location on a cliff, situated between the mouth of the river Estero Marga Marga-and Caleta Abarca. His dream came true in 1906. When the work was completed, at the edge of the cliff towered castle. This two-storey building in the German and French style was designed on the model of the old mansions of Liechtenstein. The foundation was made of stone, and three towers with two large terraces were built of wood.

At the end of 1910 Wolf commissioned the architect Alberto Cruz Montu to renovate the building, and palace was lined with stone. In 1919 the owner decided to install a tower that was to rise directly over the precipice. In 1920, Wolf spent the last renovation of the building. He increased the aperture windows, and round tower attached to the main building via a bridge with a transparent floor made of thick glass. It is possible to observe the splendor of surf: the waves breaking on the rocks right under your feet.

The owner of the castle died in 1946 and bequeathed the building to Mrs. Hope Artaz. Wolfe gave her permission to renovate the building into a hotel for their money, and then sell it to the municipality of Viña del Mar. As a result, it was removed two of the three towers, which expanded the main entrance to the castle, and added a stone structure in the English style.

Wolfe Palace resembles a medieval castle, particularly arched windows facing west and a round tower with a serrated roof topped with a spire. The predominant building material - stone. The main facade of his English style breaks down and softens the image of the impressive medieval castle.

Wolfe Palace became the property of the municipality of Viña del Mar in 1959. In 1995 the palace was declared a National Wolf historical monument. Within the walls of the castle is an exhibition center and museum on the first floor - the gallery with the works of contemporary artists and sculptors.
