Vasto - ancient town in the vicinity of Pescara. The first settlement in this place was founded in the 13th century BC, and the city, according to legend, founded the Greek hero Diomedes. However, today most of the surviving monuments of history and architecture of the city dates back to the Middle Ages.
Vasto was once one of the nation's major cities frentani. It was founded on the Adriatic coast, 9 km south of Punta della Penna.
