Juliet's House - this is probably the most visited attraction of Verona, which is eager to see the thousands of lovers from around the world. This small house was built in the 13th century and thanks to the great genius of William Shakespeare, for centuries considered to be the home of the legendary Juliet.

Once this structure is located within walking distance from Piazza Erbe, belonging to the genus Dal Cappello, which became the prototype of the Capulet family. Their coat of arms in the form of marble and hats can be seen today on the arch leading to the courtyard. In the second half of the 17th century, the house was sold, and since then changed hands several times until in 1907 it has not acquired the Verona City Council to organize the museum. By the time the house is almost completely dilapidated and required significant repair and restoration work. However, the municipality could not find the money for it, and only after the release in 1936 of the famous film George Cukor's "Romeo and Juliet" started active work to transform the house into a tourist site.

According to Shakespeare's play House of Juliet gave a romantic look: brick facade decorated with gothic elements, windows were framed properly, and even some buildings have been reconstructed, facing the courtyard. Sam yard with the legendary balcony of Juliet and was rebuilt and acquired the similarities with the court of the Cukor film - appeared jagged walls and columns under the balcony. Later this wall was placed lines from Shakespeare's tragedy. And in 1972 there was a bronze statue of Juliet, is quite popular among tourists. Restoration work carried out in the 1970s and 1990s. During the last in the house with the appropriate ornaments and frescoes has been recreated the atmosphere of the 14th century. Finally, in 1997, at the House of Juliet was inaugurated Museum. Today you can see works of art created on the theme of "Romeo and Juliet", photographs from the film Cukor and a collection of objects from the picture Franco Zeffirelli in 1968 - two suits, marriage bed and sketches. By the way, in Verona there are the so-called house of Romeo - is an old mansion of the 14th century, belonged to the family of Nogarole. It has Gothic features and is surrounded by battlements. Unfortunately, this is private property, and access is closed here. All offers City Hall to purchase the house and turn it into a museum have been rejected by the owners.
