Palazzo Giustinian - a magnificent palace, located in the Dorsoduro district of Venice, near the famous house Ca 'Foscari. This palace, which overlooks the Grand Canal, considered one of the finest examples of late Venetian Gothic. Here is the last refuge of the French Princess Louisa Maria Theresa.

The building Palazzo was built in the late 15th century, probably with the participation of the sculptor and architect Bartolomeo Bon. Initially, the palace consisted of two separate buildings, each of which belonged to a different branch of the Giustinian, and later the two were joined by a center section - facade. Today, these buildings are known as Ca 'Giustinian dei Vescovi, which now houses the Department of the University Ca' Foscari, and Ca 'Giustinian Dalle Dzodzhie, privately owned. Behind the facade of the two buildings are still separated from each other by a narrow alley "calle", which, through the portico of the tunnel "portego" joins the central portal.

Giustinian family sold the Palazzo in the 19th century. In the century in this majestic palace lived celebrities like artist Natale Schiavoni, German composer Richard Wagner, who wrote here the second act of "Tristan and Isolde", and the last Parma Duchess Maria Theresa Louise d'Artois.

Palazzo Giustinian and standing next to Ca 'Foscari combine multiple decorative elements. They both have an L-shape with four floor and the upper floors of arched windows. On the floor of the so-called "piano nobile" windows of both palaces form shestiarochnye arcade with intertwined floral motifs. In the backyard of Ca 'Giustinian dei Vescovi can see the Gothic staircase, and for Ca' Giustinian delle Dzodzhie large garden.
