Palazzo Fortuny - art museum in the neighborhood of San Marco in Venice. Once this palace, built in the Gothic style in Campo San Benedetto, belonged to the family of Pesaro. Later on the idea of one of its owners, Mariano Fortuny, it was converted into a studio, where he worked Fortuny photography, set design, textile design and painting. In 1956 Fortuny's widow, Henrietta Nigrin, the Palazzo passed into the ownership of the municipality of Venice. Today it houses a huge collection of articles covering many areas of activity, Mariano Fortuny, and the museum itself is a part of the Municipal Museum Foundation of Venice.
Painting is represented by about 150 paintings by Fortuny, reflecting different stages of his career as an artist. Central here is his "Wagner" period, which lasted until 1899, the year. Particularly noteworthy are fascinating portraits of his family, and above all - his wife.
A significant place in the work of Fortuny took experiments with light effects, which devoted a separate exhibition. Collection of photos posted Fortuny, dates from the period from 1850 until the Second World War - a rich collection of images of historical figures, made in a variety of styles and techniques of shooting. Finally, a great place in the heritage of Fortuny takes a collection of costumes, fabrics, different materials, prints and patterns - he painstakingly studied weaving and history of fashion. The artist himself was engaged in the creation of models of priceless Renaissance velvet and a variety of exotic materials.
