Danube Tower

Danube Tower was opened in April 1964, designed by architect Hanns Lintlem in preparation for the International Garden Show. Externally, the tower looks like the TV tower, but in practice it does not have anything to do with TV.

Danube Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in Austria, its height is 252 meters. The tower is located near the north bank of the Danube in the 22nd business district of Vienna, Donaustadt. Since opening, it became part of the Viennese skyline and a popular tourist attraction, which is understandable, because the appearance of a tower in good weather, is about 80 kilometers.

The observation deck is located at an altitude of 150 meters, where visitors pick up two high-speed elevators. Himself lift - also a kind of attraction: it can accommodate up to 14 passengers and up to such a height in just 35 seconds. In a strong wind lifts travel at a much slower speed due to possible fluctuations of the tower. Of course, the tower and the staircase is provided, which has 779 steps. However, it is used only during the annual festival running or in emergency situations.

The tower has two revolving restaurants (at a height of 160 meters i170), which offer excellent views of the Austrian capital and the Danube. Overall turnover restaurants do on the platform 39 and 52 minutes respectively. Restaurants initially largely identical, however, is currently considered the upper restaurant more presentable, whereas the lower, rather cafes. However, the menu and the prices are not much different.

Fans of extreme relaxation and adrenaline splash everyone come here to practice bungee jumping (jumping from a height), which are organized in the summer months.
