Old church - gothic church in the center of Delft, one of the oldest buildings in the city, and the oldest church in Delft. Already in 1050 there existed a small stone church, it was expanded and rebuilt in 1246, the year when Delft was granted city status. The church was built in the Gothic style and was consecrated in honor of St. Bartholomew.

In 1325-50 years the church has a tower height of 75 meters. For its construction had to change the direction of the old city canal, the old channel was filled, and in its place has begun construction. The instability of soils on the banks of the canal has led to the fact that the tower began to heel. Builders are trying to rectify the situation, rejecting the tiers of the tower vertically. Inclined tower was popularly nicknamed "Curve Yang." For a long time the townspeople feared its fall, and even heard proposals to demolish it. Now the inclination of the tower is about two meters. The tower is fully stabilized, there is no danger of falling.

The largest bell in the tower weighs 9 tons, it sounds only during the funeral of someone from the royal family or during a major emergency.

The first stained glass windows in the church were at the beginning of the XV century, but the fire, then an explosion of gunpowder warehouse, virtually destroyed them. Stained-glass windows, which today adorn the interior, made in the XX century. In the church there are three body.

Here are buried many famous people, including the artist Jan Vermeer, and Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, the inventor of the microscope.
