Park "Mont Avic" - the first specially protected area, established in the Italian region of Val d'Aosta and characterized by landscapes of great beauty. The park was established in 1989, for the protection of ecosystems, alpine valley Torrente Shalami (Shamdepra), and in 2003, the year of the "Mont Avic" included part of a vast valley of Dondo, extending up to the mountain ridges of the Val Soana and the Valle di Cogne. Today, the total area of ​​the park reaches 5747 ha. It borders with the National Park "Gran Paradiso" and has the status of a protected zone of a special territory and communal values.

As mentioned above, the "Mont Avic" boasts a number of beautiful and breathtaking landscapes, and places that were only partly affected by human activity .  On the slopes of the mountain Shamdepra harsh conditions did not contribute to the development of agriculture and grazing, for the same reasons, the flow of tourists is not too large .  Forest Val Shalami devastated in past centuries, the mining industry, now largely restored to its original shape and, on the contrary, attracts tourists for its scenery and entertainment .  Mountain valley landscape Shamporcher with extensive alpine meadows are home to ibex, chamois and marmots .  In addition, the park "Mont Avic" you can see the unusual natural formations such as canyons and bizarre rock formations, enjoy the rare alpine plants, to visit the region's largest untouched pine woods and relax on the shores of the many lakes and ponds in the company of representatives of the alpine fauna .  To get to the park "Mont Avic" can be on the highway from the town of Verres .
