The unique monument of culture and life of the Finno-Ugric people was found during excavations in four kilometers from the town of Glazov in the heart of the Chepetsk land Udmurt Republic. The medieval settlement Idnakar (9-13 cc.) Is on the promontory of Mount Soldyr and has an area of more than forty thousand square meters. In August 1960, Idnakar was included in the list of protected monuments of archeology, history and culture of national importance. For the most valuable exhibits from the excavations was established historical-cultural museum-reserve with the same name in the city of Glazov.
During excavations uncovered the direction of strengthening the ninth century, the remains of ancient dwellings and commercial buildings, as well as a variety of material evidence of culture and life of the inhabitants of the settlement. Estimated Soldyrskogo ethnic composition of the settlement - the ancestors of modern Komi and Udmurtia, but the presence of the Volga Bulgars and the Old Russian population is not excluded.
"Idnakar" translated from Udmurt sounds like "fort heroes", creating names around many legends among the indigenous population. Today Idnakar is well-promoted commercial and tourist Udmurt brand.
