The Church of Holy Friday is at the center of the town of Troyan. It is also known under the name "Light Paraskeva" (Saint Paraskeva).
The temple was built in 1835 and consecrated on October 14 the same year. In 1877, in the city there was a large fire, which resulted in Troyan left untouched by fire just a few buildings. Among them was and miraculously survived the church of Agia Paraskevi. The building is protected solid stone walls, in some places up to 1, 6 meters in thickness. However, burned all the wooden parts - the holy throne, the iconostasis and altar, the bishop's throne, as well as religious books, a lot of ancient chronicles and ancient manuscripts kept in the temple. Remains untouched by fire two large bronze chandelier in front of the altar.
Subsequently, the church was restored. Before the fire on the roof of the building housed a wooden dome. The tower with the dome was re-built in 1905 and restored in a few years. The new dome is shaped like a bulb, uncharacteristic for the architectural style of the church in Bulgaria. It is covered with a metal tile, which glistens in the sun. In the window of the tower inserted stained glass windows.

It depicts St. George. In the niches of the plate over the entrance are the image and of the Holy Paraskeva. On the south side there are two entrances, one of which leads to the altar.
In the temple you can see the unique cornice with sculptures of angels, doves, snakes, dragons, and others. The color scheme of the image characteristic of the Bulgarian art of the XII-XIVvekov. Icons for the church were written by various talented painters. Carving was done from 1901 to 1934. The iconostasis, apparently, was created by masters tryavninskoy school - it is decorated with patterns, images of plants, animals, and others.
