Limni - a small port town in the northwestern part of the Greek island of Evia, on the North Evoikos Gulf, about 80 km from the city of Halkis.

According to one version, Limni is built on the spot where in ancient times was located the ancient city Elimnion mentioned in the famous ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes comedy "World" (although hard data to support this hypothesis has not been found).

Today Limni - one of the most popular resorts on the island with excellent infrastructure. Get down on the picturesque green slopes of the small town with narrow streets and charming white houses roofed with red tiles (of which survived a lot of beautiful old mansions in the neoclassical style) - an incredibly beautiful and cozy. Here you will find a lot of quality hotels and luxury apartments, as well as an abundance of cafes, taverns and restaurants, most of which are concentrated near the waterfront and, of course, a great beach.

To diversify the usual beach holidays can be a sightseeing tour of Limni and its surroundings. In the Limni worth visiting entertaining Historical and Ethnographic Museum, Church of the Annunciation (1837) with an impressive marble bell tower (1879), the church of Zoodochos Pigi and the monastery of St. Christodoulos (12th century). However, and just a walk through the streets of this picturesque town, and open hillsides with magnificent panoramic views of the bay will bring you a lot of fun. Certainly worth a visit is about 10 km from Limni on a hillside of pine forests Kandilion among the famous Byzantine monastery of St. Nicholas, also known as Galataki Monastery, built in the 7th century on the ruins of the ancient sanctuary. Special attention also deserve the Museum of Hydrobiology and waterfalls near the village of Drymonas.
