Avlonari - a small pretty village in the eastern part of the Greek island of Evia (Euboea). The settlement is only 13 km north-east of Aliveri, 15 km south of Kimi and about 68 km east of the city of Halkis (the administrative center of the island).
The area, which today is a modern Avlonari, has been inhabited since time immemorial. The first written sources that speak of the existence of a settlement here date back to the 6th century. But, as suggested by historians, modern Avlonari was founded only in the 10-11 centuries. In the 15th century, during the reign of the Venetians on the island, are for defensive purposes was built 12 watchtowers. One of these towers and today stands proudly in the center of the village and is its hallmark.

If you plan your holidays on the island of Evia, in October, you should definitely visit the famous fair Avlonari. This is an annual traditional event, which locals suit in honor of the grape harvest begins October 6 and lasts for eight days.
