Asian Civilisations Museum presents a broad exposition devoted to the cultural heritage of many Asian countries for 5000 years. The museum has two buildings. Initially, in the first building was a school for boys, and only in 1997, after reconstruction, the museum was opened. In the first wing of the visitors invited to the exhibition, tells mainly about the history of China. And, of course, earned the wide recognition permanent exhibition titled "Heritage Peranakan", which tells the story of nations, once living on the islands of the Indonesian archipelago.

The most vivid exposition dedicated to the residents of the islands, is an exhibition Tok Panjang (translated as "long table"). Here you will get acquainted with the customs of festive meals at the Peranakan, which were held on the birthday parties, weddings and other important dates. The exhibition presents the utensils of porcelain with images of butterflies and flowers, as well as pieces of furniture.

The second building of the museum, built in 1867, is a monument of the Victorian era. In the past, it housed the courthouse. Currently, in this wing are different themed galleries. With the latest demonstration, interactive technologies the history and culture of India, China, Southeast Asia and West Asia, preaching Islam. Also worth visiting the many events dedicated to ancient traditions, arts and technology of yesteryear. A total of 11 halls of the museum, there are about 1,600 exhibits.
