On the island of Santorini not far from the resort town of Kamari is an interesting wine museum. Grapes have long been considered the most important crop of the island of Santorini. Archaeological excavations near the Akrotiri showed that grapes grown on the island even 3500 years ago. Specific soil of volcanic origin and a hot dry climate create ideal conditions for producing high quality raw materials.

Wine Museum is located in a private winery, which was founded back in 1870 and Grigorios brothers Dimitris Kuttsoyannopulos. The museum is set in an underground natural cave, which is located at a depth of about 8 meters, while its length is about 300 m. It is the only such museum in Greece. On the creation of the museum took 21 years old. Funding for this project is fully secured Kuttsoyannopulos family.

The museum exposition acquaints visitors with the history of wine production and the life of winemakers on the island since the 1600s. The museum is well covered all stages of wine production, in chronological order, and the whole range of equipment used. Today, wine production takes place using the latest technology, but visitors to the museum will make a small excursion into the past and become familiar with old manufacturing techniques. Among the museum exhibits has an ancient wine press, which dates back to 1660. The tour is also accompanied by an automatic audio guide, available in 14 languages ​​(including Russian) and various sound effects. At the end of a fascinating tour can be tasting the four best wines of the plant.
