Chucuito is one of the most beautiful cities located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. This small town is located on a plateau at an altitude of Collana 3875 meters above sea level, 18 km from the city of Puno, on the road in the direction of Desaguadero.

On the way to the entrance to the town of Chucuito in the rock on both sides of the road are carved two large faces of Indians, which symbolize the passage to Lake Titicaca. At first glance you might think that it's just a mock-up of the "Disneyland", but in fact this is the work of the ancient stone carvers.

In pre-Columbian times, this place is the capital and largest city of the ancient Incas Lupakas. In the colonial era, the small town was the center of the collection of taxes, it is also called "Royal Savings Bank". Also, it was established a factory for processing silver ore, which was brought from the mines of Potosi mines.

As the echoes of the time, around the Plaza de Armas you can still see traces of that era. The best example of the former wealth of the town are its two churches in the Renaissance: the Church of the Assumption (1601) and the Church of St. Dominic (1639), now located amid the quaint cobbled streets and beautiful mansions in the Latin American style.

Among the major tourist attractions can be called Chucuito and Sundial, which had been a symbol of law and justice in the colonial era. Near the ruins of the Temple of the clock fertility Inca Uyo. This small ruined stone building of rectangular shape, inside of which there are 80 monoliths in the shape of mushrooms of different sizes, stuck into the ground. There was carried out rituals associated with fertility and birth.

A 5-minute walk from the main square, the Plaza de Armas is the Mirador de Chucuito. In this ancient ceremonial center of the pre-Columbian era, built of limestone and covered with clay roof tiles, currently held holiday ceremonies and carnivals. Through the stone arches Mirador de Chucuito amazing views of Lake Titicaca.

On the shore of the lake is a research center UNA, created to fill several species of trout that are threatened with extinction. The center is a fish farm, where they grow trout, which is subsequently released into the lake.
