Filarmonia city of Pskov was, is and will continue to be one of the most vivid and memorable spiritual landmarks for a considerable number of generations of the city. In sixty years of fruitful work the audience Pskov was presented a global view of not only domestic but also world music of different eras, styles, genres and musical styles. Here, not once organized performances by the world famous and popular musical groups in Russia, as well as prominent artists, such as Russian academic singing Chapel of St. Petersburg under the leadership of Vladislav Chernushenko, Concert Choir and Ballet Theatre named after MP Opera St. Petersburg Mussorgsky State Academic Russian band called "Russia", as well as People's Artist of Russia Lyudmila Zykina.

Over time, in the Pskov Philharmonic were certain musical traditions that have become highly respected, recognized and loved by the audience Pskov. One of those traditions was holding various music festivals.

In recent years, it had the festival movement, which finally took shape in the form of a festival Philharmonic cycle, starting from January holding a Christmas musical evenings and continued throughout February, March and April the festival in honor of the famous and recognized musical geniuses: MP Mussorgsky, BS Troyanovskiy, NA Rimsky-Korsakov, and ends with a festival in the cycle in the last month of the year so-called "Day of harps" - a festival of international level, as well as competition performers playing folk instruments multistring.

Creating a symphony orchestra of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic took place in 1996. During this time, the orchestra became the leading and the leading musical group, not only the city of Pskov, but the Pskov region, without direct participation of which has not been no large-scale event.

In different periods of time with a symphony orchestra collaborated performers high level: Vladimir Mishchuk - Honored Artist of Russia, Sergei Roldugin - People's Artist of Russia, Mark Drobinsky - cellist from France, Count Murzha - violinist, winner of competitions of international scope, Nello Alessi - guitarist from Italy, Olesya Golovneva - the winner of the international competition among sopranos. With Pskov orchestra included such eminent conductors as Alexander Razumov, Arkady Galkovsky Morten Sorensen from Italy, Brenda Lin Lynch of the United States.
With great success the orchestra performed in Novgorod, Saint Petersburg, Latvia.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pskov symphonic orchestra received a gift in the form of a performance of Verdi's opera "La Traviata", which has opened up new horizons for the further development of the musical activities of the city of Pskov. In addition, the orchestra became a regular participant in music festivals in Pskov: Pushkin Theatre Festival, the All-Russian festival of poetry in honor of AS Pushkin, festivals dedicated to Russian music in honor of Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, as well as the national folk music festival, which is held in honor of balalaika virtuoso BS Trojan.

An important role in the regional philharmonic play and musical groups performing folk, classical, jazz. Ensembles, quartets, trios and duets successfully cope with the task of musical enlightenment, participating in festivals and competitions, as well as touring in remote areas - is instrumental duets, "Bayan Quartet", "Piano Jazz Concert", an ensemble of Russian music "Pskov" acting in kindergartens and schools.
