Church of Joachim and Anna is located in the old street of the Assumption, located not far from the ramparts of the fifth city of Pskov. Even in ancient times there existed Yakimanskii maiden monastery, which has been known since the 14th century. The main church of the monastery was a dedication to the parents of the Virgin Mary - Anne and Joachim. Currently the church is given into the hands of the Teachers' Seminary.

The exact time of the founding of the Church of Joachim and Anna is unknown, but judging by the architectural component, as well as unprecedented dilapidation, to which the Church has come to the time of its last restoration, conducted over the years 1896-1897, it has quite a considerable amount of years. Chronicles sources mention the church only once, in 1544 when there was a sudden fire.

The church has three semicircular altar apse, which are beautifully decorated cornices triangles and squares. In extremely simple, but colorful décor, you will notice a feature that does not affect the other Pskov churches: the bricks that make up the composition of the picture, a little skived to the outer ends of their edges, for which reason the triangular dimples are connected in the form of a cone in the interior and to the outside toward expanding. It is this effect gives an extraordinary charm general pattern that looks so light and airy.

In the southern side of the chapel is consecrated in the name of the Holy Prophet Nahum, and on the north side there is an extension, which has no altar area. On the west side adjacent porch that connects to the side, namely the north and south side chapel annex. The vestibule has a small porch, which until recently was completely renovated typical Pskov porch, located on the low and thick pillars. Today, much to the chagrin krylechnye side spans incorporated and transformed into walls, for which reason the old type of construction is completely distorted and loss. Dual Span belfry stands on the wall of the porch. In the church there is a stone drum having narrow windows and unusual through-colored ornaments. On top of it put a little hollow drum having a head with a bulb shaped cross.

Covering one of the porch decorated arch and the main temple has Korobov vault below the arches .  The supporting pillars, three in number, are made semi-circular, and the two pillars on the east side are rounding only from the altar .  With a wide span realized the connection of the porch and the main temple .  Span acquired its present form in the period of 1896-1897 years, and until that time, in its place there was quite a narrow passage .  It was at this same time, the land was extended for 1 yard, and the floor is slightly lowered, because leaving a sufficiently high solea .  In addition, the church windows were greatly expanded, and until that time, they looked just a slit-like .  The West arranged the choir and in the right side, instead of a set, an ordinary ceiling mounted .  In the southern chapel there are two deep niches with Duszniki .  Extension, located on the left side, is now a lodge . 

Once passed the revolution, the Church of Joachim and Anna was closed. Global Restoration work was carried out in the church in 1949, when it was put in place before being old drum head also acquired its original form, the side walls of the porch laid completely cleaned, hipped cover was replaced on the original - vosmiskatnoe.

Not so long ago in the church was renovated, which resulted in the interior is wholly pure beauty of whitewashed walls and structures. The only thing that is unfortunate is the bright spot of contemporary religious art, which is completely tasteless contrasts with the majestic walls of antiquity.
