Piazza Pretoria, located to the east of Piazza Villena, - is one of the main squares of Palermo, made in the style of a luxurious Sicilian Baroque .  Its main attraction is undoubtedly the monumental Mannerist fountain, built in the mid 16th century Florentine sculptor Francesco Kamilyani .  Originally the fountain graced Palazzo di San Clemente - Tuscan residence of Pedro Toledo, Viceroy of Naples and Sicily, and after his death, was sold to the heirs of the municipality of the city of Palermo .  In 1574, the fountain was dismantled for parts 644 and moved to Sicily, where they gathered under the personal supervision of his son Francesco Kamilyani - Camillo .  To install it in Piazza Pretoria were demolished several residential buildings, and to the very fountain added a few new elements that it fits the architectural ensemble of the square .  Is a composition of several pools of different sizes with statues of naked mythological characters, animals and monsters fountain immediately caused a wave of anger among the pious inhabitants of Palermo .  Because of this, people in the area called Piazza di Vergon - Area Shame .  However, today, the fountain - a popular tourist site, to see which receives thousands of visitors .
