Boldino village in the south of the Nizhny Novgorod region, for three centuries, was the name of the Pushkin family. The first documented mention of the village dates back to the eighties of the sixteenth century, when the estate was donated Yevstafy Mikhailovich Pushkin for diplomatic and military services. It is more than fifty hectares of ancestral lands kind of Pushkin in the picturesque location of the village Zabortniki (now Big Boldino), 230 km. from Nizhny Novgorod.
The anniversary - the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great poet, in 1949, was organized by the State Literary-Memorial Museum named after Alexander Pushkin, and was later restored the eponymous natural museum-reserve. Family estate includes thirteen fully renovated and restored architectural sites, including two gardens of the park with his beloved grove of the poet - and the village Lvovka Luchinnik. Reserve Centre is a family estate aristocratic home, office, stables, baths and houses of priests (now - Museum of fairy tales). Next to the museum in 1979 was a monument to the great poet. It is in the Nizhny Novgorod estate of Alexander Pushkin was written more than fifty works, all included in the world classical literature of the nineteenth century.
Nowadays Museum "Boldino" is the largest literary-memorial landmark Russia, associated with the name of the great Russian poet.
