The main temple of the Tikhvin monastery in the town of Tsivilsk is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Tikhvin icon was built in 1885 by architect Paul Anikin.

After the closure of the monastery in 1925, the ancient bell tower was destroyed, and the main temple of the monastery were broken slab. After the reconstruction of the building of the cathedral has become a three-storey housing ordinary Soviet planning. In the late nineties the remaining buildings of the monastery were returned to the Chuvash diocese and more than a decade was the reconstruction of the entire architectural ensemble of the monastery.
